      Service Design, VP Interview

      4 Aug 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Brooklyn, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Chase (Brooklyn, NY) in Jul 2025

      Interview

There were many issues during the interview process that ironically resulted in poor service to me as a candidate. 1. First, the recruiter was over 10 minutes late to our original call, and I had to reschedule, as I had other meetings to prepare for. 2. The day of my interview with the hiring manager, I received an email from the coordinator with a new "confirmed" time 1 hour ahead of schedule. Though it was not an issue for me, I would have expect an email asking if I could confirm it, rather than assuming it was okay with me. The email also did not say "UPDATE" anywhere in the body, just a time that was different than my records. 2. No one logged on to the interview. I waited for ten minutes, emailed, and tried calling the recruiter. No response for an entire business day. I offered to log back into the original time, but there was not response. 3. Upon reaching out the recruiting coordinator, there was no apology for any technical issues or scheduling conflicts on their side, just an apology for "the delay." 4. Finally after interviewing with the hiring manager, it was clear she did not prepare for the interview. She skimmed my portfolio and selected a project that was "under construction" on my website and asked me to speak to it. If she had reviewed it, she would've looked at my more recent, relevant projects for the role. After asking me to talk through one project, she opened it up to me for questions. I felt that as a hiring manager, it was very dismissive, especially since she was walking from one desk to another during our interview. Needless to say, I don't think I would've accepted the job if it was offered to me based on how I was treated as a candidate. Ineffective communications with little regard for my experience.
