      HR Generalist Assistant Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Channel 4 (London, England) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I applied for an HR Assistant role and was invited to come in for an Assessment Centre. We were asked to prep for a 3 minute presentation on "the process of hiring a new person at Channel 4" before the day. On the day there were approx 15 people and an additional 2 people didn't show up. Everyone was here for the one role. We were taken into a meeting role and asked 'what would you consider when designing as assessment day for a sales role at Channel 4?' and 'which questions would you ask?' This was a group task and you had to work in groups of 5 and present back to everyone. After that we were asked to complete a written test. This was based on writing emails, prioritising and dealing with difficult conversations. We were given a lunch voucher to use. After lunch, only 6 people got through to the next stage and the rest of the candidates were asked to go home. I thought that this was a bit brutal and the whole process was a bit much for a HR Assistant role. It was difficult to get a word in edge ways in the group task and I don't think presentation skills are that necessary for the job. Also, everyone had prepped for the individual presentations and only 6/15 people got to present. I would recommend this section taking place in the morning so that people's preparation wasn't wasted. Overall, the office was lovely and staff were friendly - maybe a simple interview would be better for an admin based role. I would recommend for anyone who applies to try and really stand out.
