Worst interview I've ever had. Had a video call with the CEO, who was rude and disinterested from the start. He looked disheveled while vaping and yawning throughout the 15 minute call. He told me nothing about the role or the company, instead jumped straight into a few basic interview questions. When it was my turn to ask questions, he gave me one word answers.
If the way he runs the company is anything like he interviews then stay far away! No wonder the company is almost 20 years old but hasn't grown beyond 12 employees...
I conducted this interview. The candidate is right, it was not good enough, fair or typical.
I offer no excuses but thank the candidate for posting this and holding me accountable. I hope they found a role that suits.
I interviewed at Champion Communications in Dec 2023
Interview
Extremely rushed and slapdash process.
One interviewer was having connection issues, the other was visibly disinterested and dismissive of me right from the start of the process (looked like he was working from his bed).
Asked me several very cursory questions on my experience, then within 15 minutes asked me if I had any questions for them.
Hung up, ghosted me for a full month. I had to chase to get feedback. They claimed they'd decided not to hire at the SAM level as they'd found an SAE and decided to hire at that level.
Within a few weeks they started putting out SAM adverts in earnest again. So assume they lied or rapidly reversed course.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Tell us about your past clients.
- What are you looking for in your next move?
(All quite generic and forgettable things you'd expect to ask an interviewing SAM)
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Champion Communications (London, England) in Oct 2019
Interview
Had an initial phone interview. Then I was invited to a group interview but was more like an assessment day. You’re thrown into a debate which was very uncomfortable since we’re all in a group and environment was not warm and fuzzy. There was an itinerary emailed but did not stick to it. For example, no company presentation first. If you don’t live and breathe tech, don’t bother although the job ad doesn’t imply that at all. Very misleading. They did not complete the day saying that none of us (there were only 4 of us) were a good fit. I appreciated they didn’t continue to waste my time but didn’t feel they could fully assess my skills based on a cold debate. Maybe they need to rewrite their job description.

Question 1
They assigned you a side to debate. You had to present your side in 5 minutes. This was the first thing they did. For example, AI is ethical. You had to discuss why it’s ethical.
