Application
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Catalent Pharma (Kansas City, MO) in Jun 2014
Interview
The process began with an extensive online application after which I received a phone screen invitation in approximately two weeks. The phone screen (about 20 minutes) was conducted by an HR representative who asked basic questions about salary expectations, experience, reason for leaving current role, and reason for pursuing their position. A 2nd phone interview (nearly 45 minutes) by another HR person was more extensive and pursued questions likely generated by the hiring manager as they were more specific and targeted. I received a third call from the initial HR representative to schedule in person discussions. During this call I inquired about the salary range where I learned that the top end of the range was $30k below my current salary. It was very disappointing to learn the salary range after multiple phone interviews despite the fact that I had shared salary expectations both in the online application process and the initial phone screen with HR. I followed up with the HR person share salary benchmark data from my current and prior organizations as well as referencing online materials to no avail. Their salary ranges seem to be 1-2 wage grades off industry averages.
Contacted through recruiter on LinkedIn then initial phone interview with HR. Skype interview with two more people before interviewing on site. On site interview lasted 6 hours and met with 8 people. It seemed everyone was up front and honest about what was expected and what issues were being faced. I got the impression that they interviewed many candidates but couldn't find the right fit. One thing that stuck with me that I realized after the interview was that I don't think anyone smiled or looked like they had a good time while at work. I thought it was great that I was able to meet and be interviewed by some of the employees that report into the position. Usually direct reports are not part of the interview process.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Nothing that really stood out. Standard interview questions. Not many of the typical questions like give me an example of...or tell me about a time... More conversation questions to gauge fit.
