The initial communication went really well. I received two over the phone interviews and one in person. Salary range was provided at the end of the first phone call - 44k-77k.
The recruiter was fun, upbeat and relatable. The manager was knowledgeable, caring and fun as well. And the generalist was straight forward and to the point. It seemed like a good balance of a team to me!
The job application requested about 70-75% percent of its focus on training duties. And then 15% administrative duties & 10% accounting.
I feel like the job description completely changed while in the person interview. While in the interview, the JD suddenly became 15% training coordination and 65% administrative duties then 20% accounting duties. The interview seemed to have went well as I checked all the boxes plus there was laughter and smiles.
Another call was received following the interview requesting only salary expectations. There was some hesitation which was so weird because I stayed WITHIN THE SALARY RANGE. And then… crickets!
Being that I was flexible with the sudden change in expectations AND I stayed in their salary range PLUS had the adequate amount of experience.. I at least expected a final phone call.
What I believe happened is that since they changed their expectations, their salary range must have dropped BY ALOT. I wish there would have been the chance to negotiate… I’m sure something could have been worked out.
