Dear candidate,
First of all sorry for a 2-month process. You are right that is too long, just after your CV came in we decided that in order to grow we need to make sure the interview process is streamlined and every future Careertrotter recruiter is going through to the same process. That’s why we decided on the process as you have gone through. We should have communicated this more clearly to you that we were changing the process and to expect some delays.
However looking at your feedback in detail and our data the full process from first interview “new style” and final was a month, not 2. Perhaps still too long but that is what it was. As for interviewing with different recruiters, there are 2 reasons for that, team-fit with your possible future colleagues and multiple interviewers might uncover things other interviewers might not have seen or picked up on. When you will become a recruiter you might find that the companies you will recruit for, interview candidates for multiple rounds where they meet various people who all ask similar questions. And they do it for the same reason, team-fit and have multiple people review a candidate.
As for the office part you have not been put to work but have been shadowing people so you can hopefully experience some real-life scenarios and get a better understanding of a day as a recruiter looks like. Furthermore, we hope you will pick up questions etc that recruiters ask so you can ask these as part of your phone test. Feel free to email me who called you a “Ginny pig” but perhaps reference was made to the fact that you more than likely where the first 1 in the new recruitment process so we needed to see how things go, learn from it, tweak and adjust and take it from there. After our first interview “new style” we have already made some tweaks prior to this review.
As for the statement that we don’t hire people with experience, curious to learn who told you that as the majority of people in the office have no previous recruitment experience and it is something we pride ourselves in that we hire people without experience. Because of that, we want to make sure we hire right hence the new process. You have had the chance as well to ask questions so perhaps the ideal time to maybe address some of the issues you raise in this review like “Why did we decide to change our interview process” OR “what is our preference in terms of previous experience” could have been 2 questions I would love to have answered. Anyone reading please note I am open for feedback and critical questions, never hesitate to ask me a question.
Recruitment can’t always be done with 1 interview, this depends on a large number of factors like the complexity of the job, number of people needed versus company size, culture fit, teamfit, etc. Perhaps this feedback proofs that multiple interviews are needed and even then you still might not get everything about the person in front of you.
As you can hopefully see from other reviews I take feedback seriously and following this review I have had a meeting with everyone involved in the process and more tweaks to come to ensure a good candidate experience whilst we hope to see an improved hiring process. Best of luck and I hope you will find the desired job in recruitment.
