I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at CarMax (Omaha, NE) in Dec 2013
Interview
Phone interview
Instore interview but theres 3 Instore interviews
So when you come in you be taken to the mangers desk where you'll be told to wait in the waiting area and you'll wait there for 30 min then someone will grab you and have you answer some computer questions ex. Have you used drugs, have you stolen anything ever, are there any jobs you didn't include in your app. Then you'll have your first interview where they will go over the questions you answered and ask about any inconsistencies ex. If you answer yes you left some job history off they'll ask what job and why you left it off then you'll be take back to the waiting are and you'll wait another 30 to 45 min and you'll have a second interview with a store manger they ask normal questions ex. Why do you want to work here, what would your last manager say about you. Then you have to sell them a car which sounds scary if you never sold a car before but they just want to see how you react under preassure and how good your speaking skills are they give you all the info you need to sell it most people freak out at this part just take it easy there not grading you on saleing the car there grading you on telling them the information they provided for you so pay close attention to the paper they give you Then if you make through that interview youll wait another 30 min and interview with the general manager . If they say thanks we will give you a call after the second interview you probably didn't get the job but the interview with the general manager is really easy ask almost the exact questions as the second interview then makes you a job offer
Easy interview just be prepared to spend at least 4 hours there for the interview process they like to make you wait but its just an interview trick they use to make you nervous
About a 15-20 minute phone interview. Basic questions like past job experience, are you comfortable with customer service? If they like you, you move on to an in person interview. A scripted interview with one of the sales managers asking open ended questions on why you would be a good candidate, if you have sales experience, & that you understand it is a 100% commission position. You will then complete a sales exercise on the lot, where you complete a brief walkaround of a vehicle & present some obvious features & benefits of the vehicle. If you get passed that, you meet the General Manager where he/she will be the final decision. He asked repetitive questions the sales managers did & then asked specific questions like "Describe a time you sold a product, what was the determining factor that resulted in the customer buying that product?"

Question 1
What means the most to you? Money, opportunity, recognition or integrity?
Easy-going and interviewee friendly. Looks to bring out opportunity for growth for the interviewee. Begins with a screening call by the manager, goes to an in-person interview with the manager where specific sales questions are asked, and then concludes with a final interview with the LGM to assess fit.
