      Platform Engineer Interview

      30 Sept 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (New York, NY) in Sept 2022

      Interview

Honestly don't go too hard on the power day preparation. I was so focused on the complicated concepts while they did ask me basic questions. On the job description, there were tech skills that you were supposed to have which I had but I was surprised that during the interview they told me that I was getting an interview for Site Reliability Engineer which in my opinion is totally different from platform Engineer. Most of the time I was talking about myself, describing my past experience and all the questions I got especially during the 2 fits interview were related to SRE. At one point the interviewer asked me if I know what SRE was. I knew the position but that was not what I was supposed to be interviewed for. Piece of advice: Don't trust their facial expression. They will laugh and make you believe that everything is going well. Make you believe that you are giving the right answer to the question but don't expect anything until you hear back on the final decision

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Behavioral: Tell me about the time you had a disagreement with your manager Case interview: Different types of testing of software and some math calculation to see if the budget that a team has is enough to meet their expectation on testing(math exercise) 2 fits interviews: Mostly talking about your past experience. What is RPO (Recovery point objective) and RTO (Recovery time objective)
