      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA) in Oct 2016

      Interview

I applied online at Capital One's career website. After applying, they contacted me and did a short phone interview followed by a few emails back and forth. After a week, I was asked to participate in one of Capital One's "superdays", where candidates are flown to their campus for a tour, lunch, and interviewed for the position. The superday consisted of a tour of the Richmond, VA campus with two developers, lunch, then three interviews. The first interview was a typical behavioral interview, focusing on the SAR format (Situation, Action, Result). The second interview was a job fit interview that focused primarily on why candidates were interested in the position, and personal merits that could help on the job. The interview process ended with a case interview, where candidates have their analytical abilities tested.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA) in Mar 2017

      Interview

For the record, this position is now known as the CODA (Capital One Developer Academy) Associate. I was referred to a recruiter after someone I knew interviewed for and was accepted into the TDP program. After a brief phone screen, I was invited to participate in their onsite interview day in Richmond, VA. The day consisted of a tour of campus with current C1 employees in the TDP program (the 2-year rotational program after CODA), and a behavioral, job fit, and case interview. The order of the interviews is shuffled for all interviewees, and the tour and time spent with current employees does not affect the decision the hiring team makes. My interview experience was great! I thought that everyone at Capital One was very open and willing to answer questions. The diversity is great too--C1 has a ton of diversity programs and their emphasis on diversity outside of the workplace clearly has lead to a lot more interesting people to work with while in the office.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA) in Feb 2017

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter via email who suggested I apply for the program. I applied, then a few weeks later I had a phone call with another recruiter who asked mostly questions about my background and interest in technology. I was flown to Richmond, VA for a tour of the campus and 3 (fit, behavioral, and case study) 45-minute interviews. The next day my recruiter called and said I was offered a position.

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA) in Feb 2017

      Interview

I met the recruiter at a tech career fair. I wasn't expecting any chance because I do not have a tech background. The recruiter told me about this new program created for non CS background people and told me to apply online. I got a phone call from the HR 1-2 weeks later. After the phone interview he immediately scheduled the final round interview and flew me to Richmond one week later. The company was extremely generous. C1 put me in Hilton for the night before the interview and gave like a 75 dollar amount for food expense. On the interview day, I found out there were 5 more candidates interviewing for the same position. However, you don't really have to worry about how strong the other candidates are because they recruit you based on your ability, and they don't have a certain amount of people to recruit. After taking the bus to the campus, we met some people from the tech dev program and went on a campus tour for 1 hr and had lunch with them. The campus had an atmosphere similar to Google and I'm sure whoever went on that tour would be willing to work there. The HR lady then took us to our own rooms for the 3 interviews after the tour. I met 3 current employees, each were responsible for behavioral, job fit, and a case interview. They were nice even though I think I blew up all the 3 interviews. I got a reject letter 1 week after the interview day. I heard that you will get a phone call 1-2 days later if you got the offer

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Behavioral: general questions ex. walk me through your resume, what was the most difficult challenge you faced Job fit: more towards what tech project you worked on before ex. did you have any experience of working on a tech project, what kind of tech methods you applied Case: a simple math case (I got one asking you to calculate the transaction fee and decide which system is better)
