      Java Software Engineer Interview

      22 Sept 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I applied online. I interviewed at Capital.Com

      Interview

Consists of a 5 stage interview process. 1st stage is a simple HR interview that involves a simple 5 question test. This test does not really matter since it's there to just make sure you are not a bot that applied to the Ad. 2nd stage is an technical interview with 2 engineers. Prior to this interview you are given a list of the company's technology stack where you are expected to know most of them. If you are seasoned java dev you will know most of them and might have to study for like a week for this interview. The two engineers were very professional and knowledgeable, fairly enjoyed this interview. 3rd stage is a coding question that tests how you would handle shared resources in a concurrent environment. Again I enjoyed this interview and talking with the staff engineers about how to optimise it and what they would use if they were coding in a production environment. 4th stage is a Engineer manager interview. First I was scheduled with a Russian speaking Manager but when the manager found out I was not speaking Russian they decided to change my interview to another manager, this screams out nepotism and discrimination against Non Russians. The other manager was a Data Engineering Manager located in London, in the interview I was asked very basic technical questions about marketing technologies. Me having a background in enterprise applications and not marketing technologies, the manager thought I was not enough although he was a clueless about anything other than Data science, also very poor technical skills, only theoretical knowledge, also flexed on how he was a part of a huge open source project, and when I asked on what he worked on he said he coordinated the whole thing meaning zero code contribution. After weeks of back and forth with HR I was informed that I did not get the offer because the manager said no. Obviously the manager has a knowledge complex and I am almost certain that the Polish and Limassol Engineers make fun of the this specific manager due to all the things that I said.

      Application

      I interviewed at Capital.Com in Feb 2026

      Interview

The interview process included several stages: an HR discussion, live coding, a technical interview, and a team fit interview. I really enjoyed the overall experience. The interviewers came across as professional and engaged, and the questions and tasks were challenging but genuinely interesting. The whole process felt well-organized and thoughtful. The entire process took no more than two weeks, which felt very efficient and respectful of the candidate’s time. Even though I did not pass the final stage, the company still left a very positive impression on me.

Software Engineer - Java Developer Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Capital.Com in Jan 2025

      Interview

The company is completely unfair and not trustworthy. First of all, I am pasting the description that I got from the recruiter: Role: Mid-level Java | Senior Java | Lead Java. Technology stack: Angular, Javascript, RxJS, etc. Perk: holiday, insurance, medical, etc. Fully remote: Yes. Contract type: B2B or UOP. Hiring process: 2 stages. Interview process length: 1.5 weeks. The hiring process took 4, not 2 stages and took 2 months, not 1.5 weeks like it was told at the beginning. I passed all of the stages positively, and at the end of the last interview, the interviewer told me that they would come back to me with any decision by the end of the week. It's already been two weeks and there is no answer, so apparently they ghosted me. It took a lot of effort and some stress to prepare for all the interviews, and after al,l I didn't even receive any feedback on why they finally rejected me
