      Associate Software Engineer/Analyst Interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Capgemini (Kānpur, Uttar Pradesh)

      Interview

The Recruitment process was done through a Pool Campus Drive held in Kanpur on 28th September, 2017. Mine was one out of the 4 institutes invited. The eligibility conditions were pretty basic and almost everyone from CS/IT/EC/EE was cleared to appear for this drive. Capgemini had prepared a very pumping Pre placement talk & most of the attendees were very much willing to get selected. The 1st round was an Aptitude Test to screen candidates for the Interviews. This test was organised on Cocubes platform and went easily. It had 32 Qs(16 Logic, 16 Quant, No negatives) in Part 1 that were meant to be solved in 50 mins. The cutoff for this round as per my interpretation would have simply been 12-13 in both the secs. But the real turn up came in the form of a Written communication round. An essay had to completed within 20 minutes and the judgement criteria was more focused on Format styles rather than content In particular. One can refer to Indiabix etc for exact sample topics n Qs as most of them were repeated. Due to the lesser known WCT, only 25/140 from my college could be qualified for the Interviews. I was one out of them! My advice to clear this round- 1. Attempt all Qs and if you are falling short of time towards the end make some intelligent guess work. 2. Even if you feel like you screwed the Apti, don't feel bad coz WCT is a real differentiator. If you manage to pull it off in style trust me you will get an Interview call. 3. Regarding prep: As soon as you get a notification about the drive, don't go for hefty books like Arun Sharma, RS etc just Google relevant search options and read each n every link esp placement sites. Prepare a very nice CV. Prepare a repository of all Qs you come across on Google/Senior be it an Apti/Tech/HR gen. The results of Apti n WCT were announced after summing up after around 1-1:30 hrs. Soon after that a form was given and the interview process started. There were 2 interviews - Tech n HR add they went in series for every candidate. The Tech Interview was pure luck whereas the HR was just a screening process and very few were rejected.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. Tech: was entirely from the CV+ Project. Make sure you are acquainted with every single word on your CV. Don't write in air. There were candidates who just wrote they knew only C basics yet they got selected whereas certain candidates with very vast technical exp were rejected. This interview can last from 10-20 mins. And prepare one core subject out of DS very sharply esp if you are from EC/EE. Maximum Chances for Qs lies from your project listed on your CV. 2. HR: This round seemed to be a formality and was almost like to recheck on the recommendations from the Tech panel. Be precise in your answers and be confident and responsive. Do think of a Question to ask to the HR beforehand but make it sensible. Avoid any sign of Higher studies/other companies/Career exams if u wish to get selected. After these 2 interviews, finally 19/25 were named and 1 was in waiting. Those who failed to make it to the final cut had either uttered MBA/MS/CAT Research etc in their interview as their future ambitions or had fared very poorly in the Tech Interview.
