I submitted my application on the CSD portal with the video recorded questions. Then a principal contacted me to do an interview over zoom. There was a VP and a principal in the meeting. It was friendly and went very well. Standard questions about classroom management, IPLCs and lesson planning.

Frustrating and impersonal! I went to a teacher job fair in Utah. There were many districts there. I was very interested in Canyons right before the job fair. However, they were the only district that did NOT accept paper resumes or do interviews on site. They didn't even really want to talk to me or other students/people that approached their table. They told me to apply online, and if they liked my resume, they would contact me. Instead I applied and immediately got an invitation to interview. I thought this was to interview in person at a Canyons' school site, or Skype. Instead they emailed me a link to download Vidrecruiter. Then you do an online interview on your cell phone with no one on the other end. You have 3 minutes to answer each question. It was too much time for some questions, and not enough time for others. The questions were average, but it was very stressful not to interact with a person on the other end. I thought it was impersonal and lazy on this district's part. I've never had any job interview with an app like this- I did not like this method at all and the interview did not go well so I know I will not be advancing. I would have done well if the interview was at the school or job fair with an actual person. Note: The interview was NOT conducted in Sandy, Utah since that is just the city Canyons is in. You do it on your cell phone at home.
