A week after applying online, I received the following email. I immediately withdrew based on recent reviews (100% of reviews here on Glassdoor in the last 12 months are Negative or Neutral experience with no offer given). Specifically, there are a lot of people who say they are ghosted late in the process. Unless you are desperate for a job I think it's really hard to get an offer if the first step is the following.

I had a technical screening call with one of their engineers, but got a regret email 3 days after the technical screening call with no explanation as to the reason for not proceeding any further with the interview.

In the technical screening call, you'll be asked basic questions about yourself and your background. You will also have to submit a personal essay detailing why you would like to work at Canonical.
