I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Candescent
Interview
I applied online and had an employee referral. I was reached out to by a recruiter for a phone screen, it went really well and she lined up the second interview with the manager of the department within 30 minutes of ending our call. The second round was with the manager of the department. He claimed it would not be a formal interview as that would be held for in person next round. He did not ask me much at all regarding my experience. He told me about the team and work and even introduced me to some of the team members that were in the office with him by putting them on the camera. The conversation was not private at all. After that interaction he claimed he would have the recruiter set up a in person interview but disclosed to me that he already had several candidates from the last rounds of interviews he was considering. At that point, I did not understand why he would be conducting interviews with more people if you have several that you like and are considering. What more do you need? After the call ended I never heard from him or the recruiter again. I sent a follow up email and still nothing. Respect candidates time. A simple update goes a long way in candidate experience.

Interview
Can someone explain what this product team is doing? They are one of the most disingenuous group of unprofessional I have experienced. Jobs posted for over six months, long cycles with no clarity, direction, or a sense of they are even needing. The CEO of this company has to be completely clueless to let this group continue to waste everyones time.

Interview
The process started with a recruiter screening, followed by multiple technical rounds. Based on the communication I received beforehand, I expected the interviews to focus more heavily on fundamental software engineering concepts and hands-on development experience. However, the technical rounds leaned significantly toward architecture and system design discussions that felt more aligned with senior-level or architect-level expectations.
The gap between the described interview focus and the actual questions was noticeable. I would recommend the recruiting team provide clearer guidance in advance about the depth and type of questions candidates should prepare for, especially if the role expects strong system design and large-scale architecture knowledge.
Communication timing around scheduling and expectations could also be improved to ensure candidates feel prepared and aligned going into the interviews.
Overall, the interviewers themselves were professional and knowledgeable, but clearer expectation-setting would make the process much stronger and less misleading for candidates.
