Did three rounds of interviews– first with two Directors, second with two higher-ups, and last with the CEO. First interview was mostly about my research process and included a very simple Arabic test at the end (translating a paragraph from a news article). Second was a bit more difficult– one of the men was a bit aggressive and implied that my current role is mostly making coffees. Both ~45 min. In my final interview with the CEO, he was perfectly polite, but made it clear that he was looking for an ideological match as opposed to expertise/a particular skillset. He has a huge emphasis on neutrality and a deep distaste for any type of bias. The final email I received mentioned that in the end, they didn't hire anyone.
I applied online. I interviewed at Camstoll Group (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2020
Interview
tough, lengthy, intense, to the point, substantive, common questions, job-specific questions, one on one, several rounds of interviews plus written assignment, zoom interview, opportunity to ask questions, no response to a follow-up email,
Stressful and hostile interview. Good cop / bad cop routine. Definitely felt like they wanted to see how badly you are willing to be treated. Don’t bother wasting your time with these unscrupulous people who definitely don’t value you or your work.
