I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Cal Dive (New Iberia, LA) in Jun 2011
Interview
Super easy. Walked out of dive school and into a job. The turn over rate in the first 6 months is so high as long as you have a pulse, you're a viable candidate. Which really is unfortunate if you actually bring any skills with you to the dive industry. You ll just get lumped in with the rest of the trash that wants to be a Deep Sea Diver for the first year or so and there is a lot of it.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cal Dive (Houston, TX) in Jan 2011
Interview
As long as you went to a dive school and you could pass a physical they would let you go out there and try. Most people don't make it out there because it is a tough life style. It is hard only working 6 months out of the year.
