The issue wasn't the interview but CPS HR Consulting’s lack of response after the interview. As an integrated HR solutions company, I expected more from them than what was delivered.
I was set up for a meet and greet with the hiring manager within 2.5 weeks of applying. I sent an email two weeks after the meet & greet to ask about next steps, as that was the timeframe I was given to expect a response. In the email response several days later, I was told they were finalizing the next steps and would be in touch soon with an update on my candidacy.
I’ve worked in HR, including employer branding and talent acquisition. I know the signs when a company is not interested. Almost two months after receiving the email about getting in touch with an update on my candidacy, I sent an email to the hiring manager and recruiting consultant letting them know that due to the time and lack of communication, I concluded I was not selected to move forward. I received the “official” rejection email the next day, sent through the application portal.
Here’s my issue and why I am rating CPS HR as I have. As an organization that offers HR services to government and nonprofit clients, including recruitment solutions and strategies, I would expect CPS HR to be an example of what it should look like. They should be the example of how it’s done, effectively and efficiently.
Maybe the lack of response and communication is indicative of that hiring manager and department. As HR professionals, we know there can be a lack of consistency based on who you are dealing with within a company.
This incident has reminded me of the importance of your brand and living your mission and values.
I hope my situation is an isolated incident and is not representative of the company as a whole.
