      Project Engineer Interview

      7 Nov 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Denver, CO
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at CORE Consultants (Denver, CO)

      Interview

CORE has a lot of very nice people and were very welcoming. I expressed my target salary that was the same and what I made previously and there was no push back at all. It sounded as if it was a done deal at this point. I later received an offer after 3 interviews that was 17k less than I expected and they offered me a demotion as if that was a good thing. It seems as though CORE wants young engineers that never fight for a competitive salary. I urge every young engineer to fight for what they deserve since companies try to nickel and dime you through your entire career.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A bunch of typical interview questions that have nothing to do with engineering. It seemed like a Google search for interview questions.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s unfortunate that your interview experience and resulting offer of employment did not meet your expectations. CORE is committed to providing holistic compensation packages to meet the needs of our employees and their families. Pay equity is extremely important to us, and we consider several factors to ensure ethical practices and equitable compensation for every employee. CORE regularly reviews and assesses market data from a range of industry sources, which is used to determine salary ranges for each position to provide consistency and fairness in how we pay our employees. Individual salaries are also determined by role/experience competencies such as certifications, licensures, education, and skill sets. Base salary is one component of CORE’s total compensation which also includes a generous bonus program, benefits package, flexible working options, retirement contributions, paid time off, and paid volunteer days. CORE’s values serve as the guiding principles that support our actions – with each other, with our clients, and within our communities. Teamwork, collaboration, values, and culture are paramount to our success. When interviewing candidates, a series of behavior-based questions are asked that provide insight into various factors such as how candidates work with others, take initiative, problem-solve, and handle conflict. Please feel free to contact CORE’s Human Resources Manager Kaley Konecny at kkonecny@liveyourcore.com if you would like to share any additional feedback, ideas, or concerns.
