I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Butterfly Effects (Houston, TX) in Feb 2015
Interview
I am posting this to hopefully avoid someone else wasting their time with this horrible, unethical company. There is a reason why the company was recently sold and bought by someone else, with multiple firings and quittings from the top to bottom. There is a reason why they are perpetually hiring, and you see those butterfly ads all over the place. I was completely shocked at how unprofessional and scattered the interview process was. I spoke with (either via Skype or phone) 6 different people, all who asked almost the same questions, and the process just came across as if none of these people actually talk to each other. They have this really odd payscale where they nickel and dime everything you do to add up to a specific salary instead of just paying you a flat salary. Their benefits are not impressive, and they require you sign a no compete/non solicit which isn't only unethical, but shows them to be extremely greedy. They seemed to immediately lose interest in me when I said I wanted something part time (they want drones, not autonomous professionals) and when I said flexibility of schedule is important to me. They also seemed to balk at the idea that I wanted input over which cases I could accept or decline. Again, they want drones. They want someone who will take whatever cases they give them, and shut up about it. I made it through 6 interviews and then there was about a week gap where I didn't hear from anyone. In that week, thankfully I got an offer from a different company. Whew!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Basic interview questions, they also made me do these very idiotic sample case review questions via Skype with some guy in HR. For example "If you had X type of client what kind of treatment plan would you develop". The guy came across wooden and fake, like he was reading a script.
I am sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the hiring process. The experience that you describe above is certainly not indicative of our current process. Since February 2015, we have totally revamped our Talent Acquisition team and processes! Our new BCBAs rate our selection and hiring process high as a result of our focus on culture. Our hiring philosophy is to hire for what we cannot teach - passion. ABA therapy is not for everyone. Our parents and clients deserve the very best team driven by their passion and compassion to collaborate with families to fulfill dreams. Of course we expect BCBAs to come to the table with certain competency and skills and we commit to help developing those skill sets.
Culture is all about fit. Service is what we provide. Without passion, it's simply therapy. Our families deserve more...much more, hence we refuse to cut corners through the hiring process. It all pays off in the end.
