I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Buildkite in Aug 2025
Interview
Usual recruiter screen, and then
* Behavioural interview checking how you work. Are you a team player, do you think about customers, etc?
* A take home coding challenge which is actually relevant to the job
* A follow-up interview to discuss the coding assignment and decisions you made.
* An interview with the hiring manager to go over more in-depth questions about the role and your ways of working
Unfortunately, I didn't get an offer, but the interview process was excellent, and everyone was friendly.

Question 1
I won't give away the coding assignment. The most interesting behavioural question was about how you manage a customer's expectations when they're asking for something difficult.
It was fine. I interviewed with several members of the executive team, including the Co-CEOs. I had a great experience with the people team. THere were a series of about 7 interviews over a period over 3 weeks. THere was some challenges with the time zones being in the US and the leadership team was in Australia.
It felt comprehensive and thorough. There were several interview rounds with a different focus on each. From values and skills all the way to experience. There were different people in each interview but they typically contained 2 - 3 interviewers.
