    Interview

One round of on-compus interview, one on-line code challenge, one round phone interview (behavior), and one final on-site interview. The on-site interview involves 2 interviews and one code-challenge. The whole process takes around 4 weeks. The process is a little depressing, and you can feel the competition between you and other interviewees.

    Interview Questions

    • The on-site interview involves 2 interviews and one code-challenge. It involves JDBC and web scrawler. The code challenge is not that hard, however, the interviewer's request is not that clear.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Brightedge Technologies in October 2011.

    Interview

First two phone interviews, standard interview questions, reversing a linked list etc. Then I had a personality interview, the first red flag. I was asked to solve ridiculous riddles in about 3 minutes while being asked random questions about my background. This was absolutely unnecessary and felt almost insulting.

Then got asked to come for an onsite interview. I had some introductory talks with a few engineers (at that point they only had about 10 engineers) and then met their CTO Lemuel Park. He gave me an overlook of their company and their future plan, so far so good. One thing that made me a little uneasy was that every employee mentioned that you have to work 12+ hours every day. I'm aware that in a startup with limited resources this is sometimes necessary but the fact that every single engineer I talked to mentioned this was a red flag.

I was then asked to do a coding exercise on a computer they supplied me. Wasn't giving much except here is a computer try to get some local search program done in approx. 3 hours. I felt like I didn't do great but I had something working so that concluded the interview.

To my surprise about a week after I received an offer from them.

    Reasons for Declining

There were red flags throughout the interview for example the phone riddle test. Reading some glassdoor reviews 2+ years later seems to confirm this. They seem to have forgotten that an interview is also an opportunity for an employee to evaluate the employer. They didn't pass.

    Interview

First round was a coding interview, which was basically parsing a webpage. Try to use API's, don't use line by line parsing.

Second round was coding interview. You can expect some basic data structures and algorithms.

    Interview Questions

    Interview

3 interviews. First one is to write a web crawl for a given shopping website in 48 hours to implement two queries: find the total number of search results for a given keyword; print out all the search results in the screen by giving keyword and page number. The second one will be the technical phone interview and the behaverial interview will follow it. The last one should be the onsite interview.

Applied Online. Company very unclear of what they want from candidates. Even after completing the exercise on their on-site interview, they sent a decline. Waste of time and energy.

    Interview

i am in the first round, just give you a link and ask you to finish a coding assignment in 48 hours once you start. it is about getting some information from a specific website. different candidates have different websites and the questions are like: get all the products on a specific page or something like that.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Brightedge Technologies (San Mateo, CA (US)) in December 2012.

    Interview

If you know how to write an online crawler, do html parsing to extract text, store that stuff into database you are pretty much past the written tests and interviews.

Usually their interview questions are pretty basic stuff questions on Trees, graphs (some of them only doing a BST, or finding out if a tree is a BST). There is one question on design like car parking etc.

    Reasons for Declining

Company appeared to me very stingy and low on moral values.
(And that infact proved out to be true when they refused to refund me back my interview expenses since I rejected their offer)
