I applied online after seeing a post on my school's job board. I received an email within 2 hours asking to set up a phone interview, which I had the next day. The recruiter was very nice & very positive about my application, saying he saw no reason why I shouldn't get the job if I proceed with the process. Had another phone interview that week with a manager, quite similar to the first. Next step was a presentation on a technology of my choice. This took a long time to set up and the manager I presented to online had technical difficulties. I had another quick phone interview answering one thought question later that week with the same manager I'd spoken to before. At this point I had received another offer so they expedited my process, had me speak to the VP later that day who offered to fly me out for final interviews. I flew out the next week, still quite excited about the position. I had to pay for my own cab fare to & from the office but was promised they would reimburse me. I was at the office for 6 hours, with 1 hour of waiting around for the CEO to be available because his schedule had changed. They had me do a phone interview in their office with the VP who was away in NYC. By the end, I was completely exhausted.
My other offer was expiring the next day so they promised to get back to me with a decision by the end of the day. No one contacted me until the next morning, when I got an email requesting a phone call with one of the managers to go over a few points from the previous day's interviews. I did the phone call that morning, and again no one contacted me that day, as my other offer (the whole reason I'd been flown out) expired. I received a call that weekend requesting I meet with another staff member the next morning before I flew back out, but my flight was leaving before the time they wanted to meet. I received an email later in the week saying they were "leaning towards an offer," and at that point I decided not to proceed. They never reimbursed me for the cab fare.
