      Investment Associate Interview

      19 Oct 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bridgeport, CT
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bridgewater Associates (Bridgeport, CT) in Jan 2015

      Interview

The interview started in the morning and ended just an hour or two after noon. I had four interviews in total and then an additional phone interview about one or two weeks after. The first interview consisted of two interviewers who started off telling me to introduce myself and background. Gradually, they started asking me about my life decisions and my weaknesses. They delved deep into the roots of each question, asking "why". The second interview was a group interview in which everyone had to bring a topic for discussion. The group interview had about 6 or 7 candidates with around 3 interviewers to moderate the discussion. The moderators would then choose a topic they find most interesting, and the discussion begins. The moderators often jumped in and ask follow up questions to test our thinking processes. The third interview consisted an analysis of a current event. The interviewers asked me to talk about the topic I had for the group interview that did not get chosen so I had a chance to discuss about a topic I was familiar with. The interviewers asked very tough follow up questions again digging into the "why" part of my thinking process. The fourth interview revolved more around life decisions and analysis of the personality test results you done before you went to the company for the interview. Interviewers circled parts of the personality test and ask why you think you achieved such a score and why is it that you behave in a certain way. Two weeks later, I had a phone interview with an external consultant company they hired in which the interviewer asked me a lot of high level questions again testing the depth of my thinking process and ability to comprehend complex matters.
