      Manufacturing Engineer Interview

      19 Nov 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Williamsville, NY
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Brady (Williamsville, NY) in Sept 2017

      Interview

The process began with a 20-minute phone screening with their hiring manager. It was pretty straightforward, just talking about my qualifications and why I applied. After that, I had three back-to-back in-person interviews, all on the same day—one with the supervisor, one with his partner, and one with one of the engineers. This all took about two hours. The first interview—the one with the supervisor—was the longest, and the most difficult, though it still wasn't the hardest interview I've had. It was rather structured, with the interviewer asking questions from a list. Most of them were all the "top ten most common interview questions" you'll see in a Google search, but there were one or two tough behavioral questions as well. I think one of them was "Tell me about a time you looked at data to come up with ways to improve efficiency." (This question was specific to the job description.) Also, he asked a lot of questions that were basically just variations on "What are your strengths," which unfortunately led to me running out of answers. So make sure you come up with a lot of different answers and work-related anecdotes for each common interview question.

      Question 2

Tell me about a time you looked at data to come up with ways to improve efficiency. (Since the job description was centered around efficiency.)

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Brady in Feb 2021

      Interview

The interview was a three (3) step process. After I applied online, I received a phone call from Brady’s Senior Talent Acquisition Recruiter who described the position to me and asked a few general questions to see whether I was fit for the position in question. Further, I was scheduled for an in-person interview with the two (2) Value Stream Managers. The interview format was a combination of technical and behavioral questions. Followed with a tour of the facility where the hiring manager explained the operations and responsibilities particular to the role. The third round was with the executive committee and the interview was again technical and behavioral questions. What I really liked about the interview process was the intent shown by every individual that interviewed me. They genuinely seemed interested in getting to know me and made the interview process comfortable and less nerve wracking.
