I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Box of Crayons (Toronto, ON) in Oct 2024
Interview
After the initial application, they scheduled a 25-minute phone call with each of the shortlisted 25 applicants (of a total of 600) with the CEO. It was generally a good interview and pretty casual. The second round of interviews was with the CEO and the VP of Finance and Administration. This was a more serious interview, but still, the tone was generally light and casual. They seem like a great team.

Something from the Job Description that I’m weak in, and another that I'm excited to learn/new challenge
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Box of Crayons in Mar 2025
Interview
My interview experience with Box of Crayons has got to be the best one I've had by far. All the instructions and communications were extremely straightforward. I particularly enjoyed the thoughtful structure: beginning with an audio call with my potential supervisor, followed by a video call that included another team member, and culminating in a presentation exercise. The final interview stage involved me presenting an exercise that showcased my design skills and marketing knowledge to a larger but still focused Box of Crayons team, which created a great floor for discussion and, I believe, gave everyone present an idea of what the overall company dynamic would be like. Frankly, I'm still riding the high I got from how engaging, respectful, and comfortable this experience was.
Throughout all stages of the interview, the team created a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged open dialogue and questions. I felt a genuine interest in my approach to accessibility and inclusive design, which was highlighted in the job posting and is something that's always been of great importance to me.
Box of Crayons provided exceptional transparency about the role, the company and their current focus, their expectations, and next steps. This level of clarity and personable approach made the experience stand out compared to other interview processes I've done.
Every interview stage had time allocated for me to ask questions, which further demonstrated the team's commitment to finding the right fit not only for the company, but also for the person applying. Overall, the experience left me with a very positive impression of Box of Crayons as a company and as a team of true experts and made me an even stronger believer in their commitment to their message of curiosity and continuous education.

Question 1
What is your interest in the role at Box of Crayons?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Box of Crayons (Toronto, ON) in Feb 2019
Interview
I had the opportunity to participate in an interview some years ago. The experience seems professional and organized. What was not professional was after giving a short presentation (a requirement prior to the interview) the HR ghosted me despite saying they will get back to me in a few days or so. Despite my follow-up email, I didn't even get a generic email saying I didn't get the job. I was disheartened to find a complete absence of communication, not even a standard acknowledgment of my efforts or notification regarding the outcome of the hiring decision.
