This was such a weird interview process. I applied for this role months ago. So long ago, in fact, that I had forgotten that I had even applied for it! I received an email from the HM of the role telling me she wanted to set up a Zoom interview for the next week. Cool. During the interview, however, things took a turn for the...weird. My interviewers were more interested in talking to each other than talking to me. They gave me the standard, boring, garden-variety questions, and I asked a few of my own. They then asked me when I'd be available to start. I told them that I lived in another state, so that would have to be factored into when I would start. Both of my interviewers paused and said to me that Boston University doesn't offer relocation packages, so I'd have to move there on my own dime. This information would have been great to know from the get-go as opposed to me hearing it from my interviewers. Overall, I felt like my interviewers and the HM weren't on the same page (or even in the ballpark of being on the same page), and it ultimately felt like a waste of time for me as the candidate.
