Boom did a fantastic job making their interview process as painless as possible. As we all know, the hiring process for roles of this caliber can get quite lengthy, but every meeting with the team felt worthwhile. All calls were scheduled promptly one after another to work best with both of our schedules, and explicit details about the role were provided early on. Boom's hiring manager Casey does an amazing job of being transparent and finding out how to make a deal that works for everyone.
Rather than asking for the candidate to jump through hoops answering cumbersome trivia and solving puzzles on the fly, Boom opted for the much better approach of requesting a take-home project. This test project is small in nature and does not take long to complete. It provided me with the time necessary to think through a design which would really highlight my skillset. The team gave my work a detailed critique and gave us an hour to go over everything together. In my experience this type of approach proves to supply better fitting and hardworking candidates for roles- and it shows.
Now that I have been working with the rest of the team it's obvious that they have assembled something special here. Everyone at the company is helpful and for a fully remote company they actually have a pretty great blossoming culture. They take the extra effort to make sure the entire company communicates often. Other pluses include great benefits and company hardware.
So far I have experienced nothing but positives with the company and would highly recommend giving them a shot if an opportunity arises.
