      Growth Marketing Manager Interview

      28 May 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BookBub (Boston, MA) in May 2019

      Interview

Started with a quick phone screen. After the phone screen, I was provided a take-home exercise to complete. The take-home exercise was very poorly done and seemed like more of a trick question than a true test of ability and skill. Took 3-5 hours to complete. Following the take-home exercise, I was scheduled for 5 rounds of 1:1 or 2:1 in-person interviews. Those interviews were also poorly done as the interviewers worked from a set of generic question sets that were not adapted to my personal background, which led to less than fluid conversations where I was not able to properly demonstrate my skills and expertise. Felt like the interviewers did little to no prep-work before the interview sessions, which seemed disrespectful and amateurish.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at BookBub

      Interview

Similar to another reviewer, I went through 4 rounds of interviews for the Growth Marketing Manager position in the fall. They initially reached out to me in early September for an interview, and the process did not conclude until mid November, so a 2 month process for a role that was not even responsible for managing anybody, I felt as if I was answering the same questions over and over again, and interviews went on for 2+ hours, with a revolving door of characters asking the same questions again. There was a take home project that I did that I'm not even sure anybody reviewed. I brought it up a few times on my interviews, and people just looked at me with dead eyes and changed the subject. After 4 rounds of long interviews and a take home project, I was told I did not get the job. I did some research, and could not conclude that anyone at all had been selected for the role. I don't mind being turned down, but it hurts knowing they hired no one, and the process was likely a formality.
