I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Blowfish Studios (Sydney) in Aug 2021
Interview
Screening phone call followed by interview via zoom/google with the leads of the departments relevant. Cordial interview with laid back question style. Talking through portfolio pieces and discussion over projects in the works.
Great process, thorough stages; test, screen, interview. Good onboarding process. Welcomed by the team and my manager. Really looking forward to it. Great culture so far, great opportunities to learn new skills and meet new colleagues
I've submitted an application 4 times. The first 3 times they never got back to me. The last time they did, and immediately said I had to do an assignment to test my abilities. For this, I was supposed to "allow for between 5-10 hours". Unpaid, of course. I submitted it, and after all of that in between an already busy work schedule, I got rejected less than 24 hours later with two lines of feedback where I misunderstood one question and the other I think wasn't really understood on their side.
I think this hiring process is ridiculous. I have an already intense schedule trying to support myself, and I'm supposed to set aside 5 hours to do this, when I could have it done in 30 minutes in a personal interview where I can ask questions and perform to my highest ability. Absolutely ridiculous, and so insulting to ask people to do this just to be considered for a job, when the hiring team should actually do what they're supposed to do; interview and talk to people.
