I was interviewed by a Spanish derivatives person who didn't know anything about derivatives, a Kingston Poly graduate fron HR, and a Southern European senior salesperson who couldn't speak English properly.
I used to trade Exotic IRD, and Bloomberg advertised for an MSc Financial Engineering, with derivatives experience, all of which I have. But they don't. Judging by what the derivatives person said, they know very little about derivatives. I'm not sure they even know what the Libor Market Model is. I'm pretty sure they have no idea how to calibrate it. They did ask about my sales skills, which was ridiculous, as I'm a trader.
If you have worked as a trader, you know more than Bloomberg does. Don't bother brushing up your technical skills as I did, as they won't ask anything technical, I believe through lack of knowledge.
Prepare for hr questions about your CV. But be more prepared for the very back office attitude.
