      Community Manager Interview

      26 Jun 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Black Tree Gaming

      Interview

Long and not planned out. Interview lasted longer than schedule and interviewer did not seem overly keen to be there. Stated they were not looking for mod developers for a Community Manager role in interview and only someone that can concentrate on building community and communication, I then had to wait over a week and a prompting email asking what the outcome was to find out I failed because I am not a mod developer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Are you a mod developer, do you have communication skills? We are not looking for mod developers as we need someone to focus on communication.

Thank you for your interview feedback. We realise that interview processes can sometimes feel frustrating and lacking in clarity. A one week (or more) wait for a response is often a necessity as we go through a number of candidates and make a relative assessment of each. The process can take some time. As mentioned in our post-interview feedback, we have had a lot of interest in this role. Unfortunately, right now, we believe we have identified some stronger candidates and we wrote to inform you that we will not be taking your application further. In particular, we believe we have found individuals who have more technical modding-specific experience and more experience with direct engagement in modding communities, which was listed under the Bonus Skills section of the job posting, specifically "A deep understanding of how modding works such that you can properly investigate and resolve mod author conflicts regarding asset permissions". We are not necessarily looking for mod developers as you have claimed, but rather, people who have a strong experience adding mods to their games and an understanding of the processes involved, which is not the same thing. I'm sorry if this feedback to you was not clear. We apologise again for your negative experience and wish you the best of luck in your job search.
