      Clinical Lab Assistant Interview

      1 May 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at BillionToOne

      Interview

Interview process was easy, however, questions were harder than expected. I was not prepared enough in terms of the conceptual side of things. My techniques were good but when they had asked me about genetics, I did not understand very well.

      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BillionToOne (Union City, CA)

      Interview

There were a lot of rounds to the process (I think about 4-5). I only made it to Round 2. I thought the interviewers were varied, and they asked questions that really seemed that they cared about who they hired. However, the practical involved was unclear. I had asked the recruiter questions prior; however, it was assumed that you knew PCR like the back of your hand. I felt that the instructions were unclear, and you had to go into the practical cold without any "warmup" to get used to the lab equipment. It was also after about 2.5 hrs of back to back interviews...I knew how to do PCR; however, I was taken aback on the types of pipettes that were used and the somewhat vague SOP that was given to me. Overall, okay experience with nice and courteous people.
