I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Best Buy (Muncy, PA) in Jan 2007
Interview
I had applied online to be a Geek Squad Auto Tech agent, which dealt with installing car audio/video components into vehicles. Within a couple of days I got a phone call asking if I could come in for an interview. I came in, he said that they didn't have room for another Auto Tech agent, but since I had Home Theater background, they would love to try me out there.

Question 1
What would you do if you caught a customer stealing?
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Best Buy (Hyannis, MA) in Oct 2024
Interview
The GS manager is a former autotech, so the interview was a bit more inctricate. I wouldnt say difficult, per se. Originally interviewed for Consultant Agent (with a goal to become an Advance Repair Agent), but correctly believed I would be a better fit as autotech.

Question 1
Describe a situation where I worked as a team and what was the result or did it change or affected company policy?
The interview process was a little bit more technical than anticipated; however, if you do a little research about the basics of car electronics such as wiring color codes, you should be fine.

Question 1
What does the yellow wire in a radio harness resemble?
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Best Buy (Los Angeles, CA) in Apr 2018
Interview
It was simple. Since I was already a CA, it was easy to transfer over especially with previous experience in installs. I did one interview with my Geek Squad Manager, which consisted of simple questions or technical questions or both (my manager skipped the simple scenario questions considering he had asked them before when he hired me on as a CA) but basic technical auto questions where asked and technical scenarios. Got the job offer next day and simple as that. Note: you don’t have to have experience to be hired on to this position BUT it helps. If someone who’s already MECP certified goes for the job they’ll probably automatically get it, it just depends on the needs of your store, and in mine they NEEDED people. Good luck to all. P.S some managers (which they all should) will test you at the end of the interview for general auto install knowledge. You can get them all wrong and you will be totally fine, it’s just to get an idea of your knowledge and if anything will only help or not affect your pay.
