I applied for a higher role, and was called by the manager of the department suggesting that I may wish to apply for a slightly lower role at which I might be more successful. I did this. The interview took place at Barclays' office in Birmingham and took around three hours. It was comprised of 4 parts (see below).
Overall the experience was negative. The nature of the interview (being interviewed by 6 different people) meant that it was fragmented and difficult to build a rapport with any of the interviewers. It also meant that any initial nervousness in the earlier stages could not be counteracted as I became more comfortable with the room and the surroundings and a better impression made on the interviewer.
Despite some good responses (the interviewers occasionally laughed at my jokes and said some of my responses and examples were "excellent") I did not receive any response from Barclays until a couple of weeks later when I emailed the recruiter to chase for an update as to the outcome of the interview.
To date I have received no feedback from Barclays and I have therefore assumed that Barclays have no interest in employing me now or in the future. The complete lack of contact following the interview has been unprofessional and discourteous.
I feel Barclays wasted my time and I have no interest in pursuing any future opportunities there.
