      Pet Care Assistant Interview

      8 Mar 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Brandon, FL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Banfield Pet Hospital (Brandon, FL) in Feb 2013

      Interview

Before getting started I know every hospital is different and that your experience might not be as ideal as mine happened to be. this is also a part time position. I received a call on Feb 20th from the practice manager asking if I had time to do a quick intertwine. of course I said yes and I was asked questions about my work experience. i also want to add that I included a cover letter with my resume, which I think helped. any who i answered questions like what's your greatest strength and weakness, and describe a time you had to deal with a difficult customer. she seemed pleased and invited me to come in for a one on one with the head vet there. I was asked alot of the same questions, just tweaked a little. they ask if you are comfortable handling animals etc... they also ask why you want to work there and if strong smells bother you. I also got to meet a few of the people working, they were very warm and I felt alot of positive energy. They then said to expect a call for a working interview, which i received a few days later. At the working interview i was asked to come in at 845 am until 10 15 am.i was also nervous because i didnt know about practice interviews. i was placed with a vet tech who seemed very knowledgeable about the way things needed to go, fast paved but I loved it. i held animals, met with owners, got to see parasites in a microscope. i was asked to stay till noon, which seemed like a good sign. i learned what was expected of me in the position, of course. When it was time for me to leave the practice manager said that there were other candidates they were looking at and to expect a call either way by that next Monday. I got the call and I was offered the position and I just went in today to fill out new hire paper work, and I go in on Tuesday. I sensed alot of positivity and the vets seemed great art their job and the practice manager seems very fair. everyone seemed to really get along.

      Question 1

since the position is part-time the toughest one for me was the greatest weakness question. Come up with a good one! lol

      Pet Care Assistant Interview

      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Banfield Pet Hospital (Saint Paul, MN) in Feb 2022

      Interview

Honestly very unprofessional. The interviewer made fat phobic comments and seemed to not be interested in any of the answers to the questions I provided. She seemed to have her mind made up from the moment I walked in. She said things like "you know this job will require you to move" as if I wouldn't be able to. It was very offensive. She also did not keep conversation going, and continually just didn't say anything after I answered one of her questions. She also offered $15, which is minimum wage in my state. It was a lot of responsibility, bloodwork, vaccines, etc., for as much as I could make at somewhere with less stress.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Banfield Pet Hospital

      Interview

Company called two weeks after applying to set up an interview for the following week. The interview itself was in a pet examination room instead of an office room. The person interviewing me was very kind and easy to talk to, even when I had to ask for clarification on some of the badly worded questions. Promised to call back about the next steps in the interview process but the end of the next week but I never heard back from them.

      Question 1

Describe a time when you and a coworker had a disagreement. How did you settle it?

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Banfield Pet Hospital

      Interview

Multiple interviews, semi professional. I was bounced from one hospital to another as many of the hospitals in my area were understaffed. It took about two months to finally be hired by one hospital after going back and fourth from one practice to another. I dressed business casual which was fine because the people that interviewed me were wearing scrubs. They were all very nice and asked the same general questions. I figured there was going to be some questions about what I knew about banfield as a company so I studied it the night before but they never asked any questions. All around it was an easy process, just obnoxiously long.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What's the main reason you chose Banfield and this hospital specifically.
