Was called for an interview on a Monday. The interview was scheduled for that Thursday and upon arrival Jacob did not remember that we had an interview scheduled that day. None the less, the interview took place. I was told that I was definitely qualified but he needed to know if I could type. I replied “yes”. He then asked how fast, I replied, “ pretty fast”. He then asked if I could type without looking at the keyboard. I replied, “No”. He then stated, that “Dr. Adams the Medical Director wants to hire NP’s that can type fast and without looking at the keyboard”. He suggested that I take some typing lessons and then call him back. I’ve never been asked on an interview for a position as a Nurse Practitioner, about how fast I can type and if I could without looking. I feel
as if there were more important factors that needed to be considered, such as my competency as a professional. Since knowing how to type without looking at the keyboard was the most important factor for hire for this organization, then it should have been posted in the employment announcement. I live on the other side of town from where this interview was held. It was approximately an hour away and a complete waste of my time. Needless to say, this whole ordeal has left a bitter taste in my mouth about this company and their level of professionalism. Money isn’t everything but respect and professionalism is.
