I recently had a disappointing experience during a recruitment process. After completing the initial virtual interview, which focused on discussing my past work and current responsibilities, I was invited for an in-person assessment round, described as a combination of a face-to-face interview and a practical assessment.
However, upon arriving, the process turned out to be highly unstructured and unprofessional. It began with another interview session, largely repeating the initial discussions, and lasted for about an hour. This was followed by a Google Sheets assessment, which I completed successfully. Despite performing well, I was unexpectedly asked to present my work from a business strategy perspective, without prior notice or time to prepare.
Moreover, the interview panel — which included individuals with marketing backgrounds rather than data analytics expertise — questioned my current role and skills in a manner that was not constructive or professional. Throughout the process, the tone felt dismissive, and it seemed to lack respect for the candidate’s time and effort. The entire process lasted nearly four hours, with no clear structure or consideration.
This experience raised serious concerns about the organization's internal culture, communication, and overall hiring practices.
