I had a phone screen with HR, applying for a permanently remote position. Some 3 weeks after the phone screen with the HR, I had an interview with the hiring manager and surprise... the position was on-site. The HM was very apologetic for the confusion but the HR never answered to my follow-up email to discuss other potential roles. I received the generic rejection email.
