I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Austin ISD (Austin, TX) in Jul 2014
Interview
meet the principal, another admin and the department chair of that department. hopefully you've been subbing and have been in that school before. If possible do some subbing and get in touch with the dept. chair - have them on your side, express interest and make yourself visible at the school you want. Interview with other teachers and admins is pretty chill, at least in Austin ISD. Dress professional and go in with some example lessons on paper so you can pass them out along with a few paper copies of your resume.
Great and very easy going. Loved that they understood a lot of my past experience and worked with me through answering some difficult questions. They would break down questions when I did not understand them.
Online interview with ten canned questions, asked by team members and administrator. Very apparent everyone is reading off a screen, and seemed rather unengaged. Questions were similar to nearby school districts.

Question 1
Tell us about yourself, bring your resume to life.
The interview process was organized and effective. The interviewer was professional and prepared. The atmosphere was kind and comfortable. It was not overly long and redundant. I walked away feeling satisfied.
