I applied online. I interviewed at Atlassian in May 2016
Interview
I had a disappointing experience with Atlasssian interview process.
First I applied and got to do the challenge. I passed that part and three days later I had an email to book for Skype interview with Ross.
Ross called me and started asking me questions. I answered most of them. then he asked if I have experience with Angular. I said no, then he said he is going to be honest with me and they need someone with deep knowledge of Angular!
The catch is, job description did not require Angular!
I wouldn't have had spent so much time to do the challenge, If I knew it requires Angular in the first place.
So I think this is right what other people said, that they do not even need new people.
they just advertise jobs to test the market. It seems that he was there to eliminate candidates rather than finding suitable ones.
The recruiter is not friendly at all.
I don’t understand why they invited me for an interview.
The person is different from most recruiters at big companies.
I think the interview style seems too direct. I heard that people in other positions had the same experience.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Atlassian
Interview
Interviewed as a frontend leaning role. Started off with a Karat interview which is literally a third party interviewing company so you're not even talking to someone at the company. Then had 3 technicals - 1 browser coding, 1 full stack craft, 1 systems design. Then 2 behavioral - 1 values and 1 management. Got a rejection email 12 days after the final interview. IT IS AGAINST COMPANY POLICY TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK...........
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Karat - play around with stylesheet, describe the systems design of a project
Browser Coding - create some elements like a dropdown with data, style it to make it look like the wireframe
Full stack craft - explain what happens after a user logs in
System design - design a jira board with tasks, status, priorities, etc.
Behavioral - asked basic behavioral questions and you have to incorporate company values
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Atlassian (California City, CA) in Mar 2025
Interview
The interview process was a bit tedious, with multiple rounds spread out over several weeks, which made it hard to maintain momentum. While the technical conversations were engaging and the team seemed sharp, the long gaps between interviews made the experience feel more drawn out than necessary. That said, I appreciated the thoroughness and walked away with a clear picture of the role and the expectations.
