I reached out to the recruiting coordinator via LinkedIn. He put me into contact with one of the recruiters, who followed the same day with an email. After I sent my resume to him, we set up a phone screen for early the next week.
The first thing the recruiter said after the phone conversation started was "Whoa, a female programmer! Don't see too many of those!" This really threw me off balance and I could barely speak for the rest of the interview. I was so upset that I don't even remember what we talked about, other than some generic questions about my resume. Regardless, I was told that I was a poor fit for the company and that was that. I am fine with this since I don't want to work for a company with sexist employees anyway.
