I applied on the company website and was promptly contacted by one of the principal engineers who initially indicated a healthy interest in my background. I scheduled an interview over Microsoft Teams. The discussion was informal and appeared to proceed satisfactorily, although I likely volunteered more information than necessary. The interviewer indicated further interest in having me speak with one of his coworkers. After three days and no additional contact, I sent a follow-up note to the interviewer, which was not answered. Instead, the following day, I received a boilerplate rejection Email. I can appreciate that the company was in communication with other candidates, but that could have been mentioned to temper my enthusiasm instead of ostensibly feigning interest.
