      Customer Service Agent Interview

      27 Jul 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Crewe, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Assurant (Crewe, England) in Feb 2015

      Interview

A recruiter saw my CV online and advised that the company were looking for someone that had had any experience working with customers. She gave me a date an time to attend a type of 'interview workshop' and asked me to fill in a few application forms beforehand. Apparently four people including myself were supposed to attend but only three showed. We had to do three tasks. I was given a written task that tested how well you understood information that was presented to you. I was given two sheets of paper with a scenario and instructions on what to do in certain situations and asked to complete a blank form asking you to pick information from the scenario and make a decision about whether to accept a particular insurance claim or not. For my second task I had to do a role play. An interviewer called me up to make a claim, I had to collect details of the incident, make a decision about whether the incident was covered, and collect a payment for the insurance excess. The interviewer threw an unscripted curveball by saying he didn't believe he had to pay an excess fee. For my third task I had to do the formal interview. The setting was very casual and the questions basic, all revolving around past experience with customer service so I drew on my experience of working in a coffee shop. They collected any documents and application forms and said they'd get back to me that same day or tomorrow. I got a call from their recruitment team with a job offer and some interview feedback. They asked me which week I wanted to start but advised it would determine which department I wanted to work in. I chose to go on the training course for the EE campaign, for which she gave me a time and dress code.
