Recruiter sent a scheduling link cold to my inbox. Didn't return my email with a few questions about the role like salary and in-office vs. hybrid requirements. Decided to schedule anyway and she was 5 minutes late and didn't turn her camera on. She told me all about what the next round will look like and asked for my availability to get the next interview scheduled. Received auto-rejection email about a week later. Meh.
I first met with a talent manager which was a very pleasant conversation, talked about my experience and what the internship would look like for me, and then I met with the two hiring managers of the Arcadia location for a more detailed interview. I found both of the hiring managers to be kind and helpful with answering questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Both interviews I was asked if I was familiar with Ashley Furniture.
I interviewed for multiple roles and was encouraged to continue through the process, including being asked to complete an assessment/test assignment. After investing significant time across interviews and the requested work, I never received any meaningful follow-up or closure communication regarding next steps or the status of the roles.
I understand that hiring priorities can shift, but a simple update or formal closeout would have gone a long way. Ghosting candidates after multiple rounds and requested assessments reflects poorly on the hiring experience and has unfortunately become far too normalized.
