I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Arrival (Saint Petersburg, Sankt-Peterburg) in Sept 2020
Interview
The interview for Data Science / Computer Vision position.
I've been contacted by an outsourced recruiter who gave me a vague explanation about the role in the company and ask me about my experience and salary expectations. The second step was an hour-long conversation with an internal HR. She explained to me how the company organized and what problems are there to be solved. Then, she asked me questions about algorithms and data structures. I remember the questions like the names all the balanced trees, another question about trees, what's the big-O complexity of quick sort algorithm. The second part was about computer vision. The questions I remember are: what are the parameters of the pinhole camera model; how many degrees of freedom for affine transformation and homography and how they differ. The last part was about deep learning: can you approximate a bell-shaped data with a linear regression; what do you computer during backpropagation; what's the difference between MLE and MAP.
When I asked the questions to clarify what exactly they are asking about, the recruiter could not answer. She just read a script.
The important question (as I understood from the tone of the HR) was my salary expectations and why do I think I deserve that money. When I asked what senior data scientists usually get (based on my previous jobs), the interviewer got surprised.
