I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Argos (Prestwick, Scotland) in Aug 2019
Interview
Online application with contact details and availability - was not asked to upload a CV. Received a phone call a few days later asking to come in for a group interview. There were 15 people in my interview and another 19 people in another later that week for four positions.
I was made up of 3 sections. First talk to a partner, find out information about them and report it back to the group. Second, in groups of five sell me this product (an ipad, game station or a kettle). And lastly, in those same groups build a tower strong enough to hold a can of juice using marshmallows and spaghetti.
They didn't ask about previous experience, more of a getting to know you session. It was a very strange interview and difficult to make your voice heard.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Talk to your partner for ten minutes and tell us about them
The Argos interview was structured and professional, with competency-based questions and a clear focus on customer service. The interviewer was friendly and calm, making the process feel fair, organised, supportive. Overall it was a standard retail interview about experience and availability
