I had 4 interviews including an external consultant to get the sales director role.
Got a very weird interview with an external consultant where the guy tried to destabilize me all the time like the old school day interview. But anyway we met again and finally agreed on some terms.
Package was OK and they try to make it happens.
After I sent an additional request the next day (something new from the current agreed terms), if eventually it could be added as I don't have my "all you need to bargain list" , I got a simple No answer which is totally fine since we already agreed but in their mind they totally changed their decision and cancelled our agreement without calling me, they asked the head hunter to do the dirty job. I was literally shocked as I told them that I rejected another offer to join them. This highlights the real communication issue and openness from the top which is the base of leadership.
So ask for the rules of conduct bible first and don't expect to be in a startup mindset at this level. You are dealing with an ex 15 years IBM group guy + consultant (ex IBM...)
I read the other interview review and I am not surprised at the end.
Be aware that this is a 5M€< for 50 people backup by Rakuten and it will go through a 2 years of restructuring. Great challenge but some people will have to go... Don't expect to be a Rakuten boy so soon if you look for opportunities, they are just starting.
Go for the location and industry and the rest you will see.
Talk about big stuff, innovation, BI etc...
Good luck to you
