Written assignment that was a take-home first round test, in-person interviews at office. In-person interviews took 2.5-3 hours total, as multiple team members cycled in to interview. After that, interviews with senior staff would take place.
Terrible interview process. It is clear they are looking for unpaid consulting. There were many discrepancies between the job posting, what the recruiter told me, and what others I spoke with told me. For example, everyone told me something different in terms of who the role was reporting to. They also emphasized there was no rush to fill the role, which was a red flag. They required a very extensive project and then had zero questions on it for me, and abruptly ghosted.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Applecart in Feb 2026
Interview
Pretty arduous interview process -- expect multiple virtual interviews (intro explaining role and your history, one with a manager level position), around a 3 hour in person interview with multiple manager level positions, and a take-home assessment to assess your skills at the specific job.
Overall, difficult and a bit extensive for the level of the role, and I will say--the expect a lot from the candidates and it would've been nice to have been extended the courtesy of some sort of specific feedback/the rejection email felt like it was written by a robot.
