It was one of the best. Transparent and professional. The whole process was layed out until he first interview. Started with an aptitude test, then code test. Group discussion on test and then they made a decision.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Applause (Framingham, MA)
Interview
The interview process consisted of 3 rounds:
- Phone call (experience overview, basic technical questions)
- Test assignment (create an app that emulates a small piece of their bussines case)
- On-site interview
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
6 people were siting around me and asking questions regarding test assignment which I completed before the interview at home.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Applause (Austin, TX) in Nov 2017
Interview
First there's a simple phone screen, and then they have you do an open-ended "coding challenge". You're supposed to create an application that can efficiently filter/join tables of relational data. It's not trivial and in my case took around 10 full hours of programming to set up my implementation. Depending on how much effort you put into it, it's much more time consuming than dynamic programming challenges from Amazon, Twitter, etc.)
Then they told me to come in and demo the application, but really I was coming in for 5 separate back-to-back interviews. The interviews were casual, basically to the point of being unprofessional.
Also, do not be fooled, this is not a start-up company (it's been around ~9 years). Good luck trying to figure out what they do as a company because the employees couldn't really even explain it.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions asked in the interviews were very high level and pretty simple. A lot of personal questions and then some technical questions about relational databases, Python, HTTP Requests, etc.
