Initial interview went well. Office was nice. Manufacturing plant was in house and kind of impressive.
Near the end I was asked the salary I would need to join them, and then was asked what I was currently making.
Coming on board would require moving hundreds of miles, setting up a whole new life, and shifting from part time work to full time work. So, what I was looking for was considerably higher then what I was making. I explained the difference and why I would need more to work for them. However they chose to offer exactly what I had told them I was making with my current company. No 5k on top to sweeten the deal, no relocation or signing bonus, they told me my current company was paying me /exactly/ what I was worth and they would be happy to have me at /that/ price.
The whole experience left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. They wanted me to move hundreds of miles, start working full time, and rebuild my life, for exactly what I was already making? At that point you should just reach out to the interviewee and say you cant afford them.
